“A Beautiful Mind” was released in 2001, starring Russell Crowe as John Nash. It is based on true story of Nobel Laureate John Nash who was brilliant mathematician but gradually develops schizophrenia. Film was inspired by the book of the same name written in 1998 by Sylvia Nasar. Film portrays the early life of John Nash in Princeton university as a graduate student and how he slowly develops schizophrenia during those days, which causes severe impact on his wife, children and work.
“Batman Begins” was released in 2005, starring Christian Bale as Batman. It’s based on DC comic superhero character Batman and directed by Christopher Nolan. There were earlier attempts made to portray Batman on screens but they were not successful until “Batman Begins”. It’s story about Bruce Wayne (Played by Christian Bale) whose philanthropic parents were killed in his childhood by a thug, and year later he becomes Batman in order to protect Gotham City from criminals.
“The Dark Knight” was released in 2008, another masterpiece by Christopher Nolan. This film is sequel to Batman Begins(2005). Story revolves around Batman(Christian Bale), Jim Gordon, Harvey Dent who are trying to fight against growing crime in Gotham City but at the same time threatened by criminal named Joker(Played by Heath Ledger) who seems to be unafraid of Batman and city’s jurisdiction and ultimately creates disorder in Gotham City.
“Saving Private Ryan” was released in 1998, starring Tom Hanks as John Miller. Film portrays the efforts of Captain John Miller and his squad during invasion of Normandy in World War II, in search of James Francis Ryan(Played by Matt Damon) who is the only surviving brother in the family of 4 brothers. Rest of the three brothers lost their life in action while serving for their country. John mission is to bring him back safely to his family. Steven Spielberg has beautifully portrayed the war scenes especially when movie starts where US troops are getting slaughtered by Germans at Omaha Beach.
“The Pursuit of Happyness” was released in 2006, starring Will Smith as Chris Gardner. It’s been almost 10 years, yet it is one of the most inspiring films of all time. It’s a story about Chris Gardner’s struggle being as salesman(later turned into stockbroker) and single father of his 5 year old child while having the extreme financial difficulties in life. Film depicts everyday struggle of father and son and how they manage to find out happiness just by being together. Will Smith incredible acting as Chris Gardner makes you fall in love with him.
“Forrest Gump” was released in 1994, starring Tom Hanks. It’s been more than 20 years Forrest Gump came into our lives and won everyone’s heart with his innocence. It’s a story about different life phases of Forrest Gump (Played by Tom Hanks) who is mentally slow to grasp things but has kind heart and exceptional ability to run. As life goes on, he plays pivotal role in defining events of 20th century starting from star football player, Vietnam war hero, playing Ping Pong with Chinese to successful shrimp boat captain. Tom Hanks incredible acting as Forrest definitely make you fall in love with him. This film is based on novel “Forrest Gump” written by Winston Groom.
“Fight Club” was released in 1999, starring Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter. It’s a story about a common man(Played by Edward Norton), who is dissatisfied with his job and to kill time he usually attends support group meetings where he also meets Marla(Helena Bonham Carter). Later he meets with soap maker Tyler Durden(Brad Pitt), whose straightforward style and way of getting things done appeals him. They start fighting with each other as a therapy in order to overcome his hatred with society, soon other people are attracted to their ways and starts club known as “Fight Club”. This film is based on novel “Fight Club” written by Chuck Palahniuk.
